Laughter Falls

Laughter falls on many ears,
Gleeful to those at play,
Menacing to those ashamed
Driven away in fear.

Some find such levity offensive.
I thought them paranoid ...
.....for I laughed,
but not at them.

Who, then, are these other voices?
Reverberating still?

Echoes or anticipated response?
But still I laugh.
Chasing away
The offensive silence.
